How to judge the quality of an LTE router outdoor antenna?
Ensure the integrity of the RF connector (the screw and pin) and verify the strength of the connection with the device.

Inspect the RF coaxial cable of the antenna for any signs of scratches or breaks. Take care not to excessively bend the coaxial cable. Remember, the cable should not be folded flat as depicted in the figure, as doing so can damage the inner conductor, rendering the product unusable.

Use a multimeter to assess the impedance of the antenna. Test the two ends of the connector separately using two test lines. For a properly functioning antenna, the impedance should measure around 1.2KOhm. If the impedance reading differs significantly, it indicates possible damage to the antenna.

How to install an antenna to achieve the desired performance?
Ensure there are no obstructions, especially metal objects, in front of the antenna, as they can significantly impact its performance. Metal rods, cables, high-voltage lines, and similar objects should be avoided in the antenna’s vicinity. If there are obstructions, consider relocating the antenna in front of them or increasing the pole’s length to position the antenna higher than the metal obstacles.

Align the front of the antenna (radiation direction) with the direction of the remote base station to achieve the best performance. In cases where the base station’s direction is not visually observable, try rotating the antenna in different directions while monitoring the device’s receiving signal. A stronger signal, indicated by more signal lights, indicates an improved connection.

The antenna bracket pitch angle can be adjusted to optimize its performance.
